When I first started learning about digital marketing, I thought it was mostly about social media, advertisements, and creating content for businesses. As I learned more throughout this course, I realized digital marketing is much more than that. It involves understanding customers, using data, creating strategies, and using technology to help businesses grow.
I am currently working toward my Associate of Arts degree and plan to transfer to New Mexico State University to continue my education in Information Systems. My goal is to build a career that combines business and technology. Learning digital marketing skills has helped me understand how important it is to know both the technical side of a business and how companies communicate with their customers.
Technology continues to change how businesses operate. Companies need employees who understand digital tools, data, and customer needs. Having knowledge of digital marketing can help create more opportunities in many different career paths.

Why Digital Marketing Skills Matter in Technology Careers
One thing I have learned is that technology is not only about software, computers, or systems. Technology is also about how people interact with businesses and how organizations use information to make better decisions.
Digital marketing skills are important because they help professionals understand:
- How businesses build relationships with customers online
- How websites and digital platforms impact user experiences
- How companies use data to improve marketing decisions
- How online content helps businesses reach their goals
These skills connect closely with Information Systems because both areas focus on using technology to solve problems and improve the way businesses operate.
What I Learned About Digital Marketing Skills
Throughout this course, I have learned about different areas of digital marketing, including SEO, email marketing, branding, social media, and content creation. Before taking this class, I did not realize how much planning and strategy goes into successful digital marketing.
One area that interested me was search engine optimization (SEO). Learning how businesses use keywords and online content to improve visibility showed me how important it is to understand how people search for information online.
I also learned that good digital marketing starts with understanding the audience. Businesses have to know who they are trying to reach and what information will be useful to them. Whether it is an email campaign, website, or social media post, the goal is to create a better experience for the customer.

How I Plan to Use These Skills in My Future
As I continue my education in Information Systems, I believe the digital marketing skills I have developed will help me become a more versatile professional. Many careers today require people who can understand both technology and business needs.
Some areas I want to continue improving include:
- Data analysis and using information to make decisions
- Website design and user experience
- Understanding customer behavior
- Digital communication strategies
Having skills in both information systems and digital marketing can help me better understand how businesses use technology to connect with customers and improve their operations.
The Importance of Combining Business and Technology
My biggest takeaway from this course is that business and technology are connected more than ever. Companies need professionals who can understand systems while also understanding how people interact with digital platforms.
Learning about digital marketing has helped me see how technology can be used creatively to solve business problems. As I continue working toward my degree, I want to keep developing these skills and use them as part of my future career.
Digital marketing is constantly changing, and continuing to learn will be important for anyone who wants to succeed in today’s workforce.
